Agri is a living, vocational college. We offer education opportunities for agricultural machine operators, animal keepers, landscape gardeners, forest and landscape technicians, green-keepers and grounds-men in cooperation with other agricultural schools, farmers, zoos, and forestry estates both in Denmark and abroad. Our programs are all classified as Vocational Education and Training (VET) and belong to the joint, educational entry way “Food, agriculture and experiences”.
At Agri we mainly offer our educational program in Danish, but we also offer an international Agricultural Assistant course in English.
In addition to this, Agri delivers a selection of continuous and in-service training for employees in the green sector and private individuals in subjects like flower decoration and pesticide spraying certification.
Life at the school
Our school is a fully operational farm with its own land, a modern fleet of tractors and agricultural machinery, an SPF pig stock, dairy cattle, and a stable for zoo animals. Furthermore we have brand new theory class rooms, a canteen and a study centre with an ample supply of computers. The farm is situated in a rural village environment only 5 km from Aalborg city centre.
At Agri we have a staff of 30 well qualified and dedicated vocational teachers and administrative employees. We work in teams and prioritize cooperation, a healthy work environment and development. This gives the school a special atmosphere of presence, which is felt by our students: Everybody knows everybody, and there is room for all here. And everybody shares the responsibility for making sure that the animals and fields are well looked after.
A part of TECHCOLLEGE
Agri is a part of TECHCOLLEGE - founded more than 200 years ago and now being one of the largest VET institutions in Denmark. In our organisational set-up, TECHCOLLEGE deals with overall management and administration for a total of 10 trade related colleges and a technical upper secondary school. All colleges and schools under TECHCOLLEGE base their development activities on a joint strategy plan.
The global challenge
As a vocational college, we have a long tradition of being engaged in international cooperation. The idea is to open the minds of both teachers and students to the world, and to ensure that we equip our graduates with the international competences, which are needed on the globalized labour market.
A national support scheme, Work Placement Abroad (in Danish “PIU”), makes it possible for Danish VET students to do all – or part of – their company based training abroad. Our international coordinator at Agri is continuously working to promote the use of this unique opportunity among our students and engaging the college in other types of international cooperation projects.
It should be noted that all non-EU citizens must pay school fees to attend our education programs. Apart from one designated class of foreign, animal keeper students, who are being taught in English, all tuition at Agri is delivered in the Danish language.
