About Media

Media is one of Denmark’s largest technical colleges in the field of media production.  More than 1,100 Media Graphic Designers, Digital Media Technicians, Graphic Printers, and Web Integrators are being trained by our dedicated teaching staff every year.

Media offers a wide range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programmes within the field of Youth Education, leading to nationally approved qualifications & specialisations, which are recognised internationally as well. In addition to this, we deliver a large and versatile selection of continuous and in-service training for employees in the media production sector based on a market demand driven approach.

At Media, we currently employ 30 vocational highly skilled teachers and have at our disposal modern tuition facilities situated at the main campus of TECHCOLLEGE. Our training workshops and Open Learning Centres are fitted with new top professional ICT hardware for graphical design (both Mac and PC), new professional graphical printing equipment (Rank Xerox and Roland), and the latest graphical software (Adobe Photoshop and similar leading brands). The idea is to resemble the realities of the industry, and to create an environment, which is conducive to the learning processes of our young students and adult course participants.

Cooperation with the Roland Academy
According to its own homepage “the Roland Academy is the largest industry accredited sign, engraving and large format graphics education facility in Europe. It has been developed by industry professionals and educators to deliver practical, relevant and accessible courses in a wide range of graphic production disciplines”.
Media has recently signed a contract with the Roland Academy, under which the academy will supply high tech equipment at conduct training sessions at our premises on regular basis.

Media is a part of TECHCOLLEGE – previously known as Aalborg Technical College. Founded more than 200 years ago, TECHCOLLEGE is one of the largest VET institutions in Denmark. In our new organisational set-up, Tech College Aalborg provides overall management and administration, and delivers cross-cutting service functions to the group of trade related, professional colleges like Media.

The global challenge
Danish VET Colleges have a long tradition of being engaged in international cooperation projects. The idea is to open the minds of both teachers, course participants and students to the world, and to ensure that we equip our graduates with the international competencies which are needed in the globalised labour market.

As an example, Media is now cooperating with international partner colleges in Poland, Holland and Germany within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme - initially to provide opportunities for mutual exchange of VET students including short-term work practise in foreign companies.

Additionally, a Danish support scheme, ‘Work Placement Abroad’ (in Danish “PIU”), makes it possible for Danish VET students to do all – or part of – the company based training included in their chosen VET Programme abroad. Our International Coordinator at Media is currently promoting the use of this unique opportunity further among our students, and he is continuously working to engage the college further in other types of international cooperation projects.
